Be ready for a freshman year!

You're new to med school and you're not sure what a med student should have? Don't worry, you don't have to spend thousands on all the equipment in your first year, in this article we'll walk you through the essentials you can't do without, along with some tips on what might come in handy! We'll also include a link to our products with each tip so you can have all the products right at your fingertips!

What goes hand in hand with the study of medicine are textbooks and atlases. They can be rented, bought or e-booked. Each one suits differently, some prefer paper, some prefer electronic - in this situation it is definitely worth investing in a tablet where you can take notes and draw anatomical diagrams. Notebooks, highlighters or all sorts of writing utensils are a must, you couldn't do without them!

In the first year, most medical schools have anatomy scheduled in the syllabus - for this you are usually required to wear a white coat, which is an essential part of the whole course. Outside of that, slippers are also often required.

In the dissection room, you get to do the actual dissection, and you can't do that without a dissection kit! A very basic one with basic tools will suffice, but if you want to get more involved, a more advanced one will definitely come in handy. For this case, our PREMIUM dissection kit is great, which includes a scalpel holder, anatomical notched tweezers, sharp tweezers, spiked scissors and a series of blades - No. 21, 23, 24.

Nothing makes the study of anatomy outside the dissection room easier Han anatomical models - skulls, hearts or even entire skeletons are available. With them, nothing will surprise you on the exam, check our offer.

For other preclinical subjects such as histology, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology or pathology, the above is usually enough.

The change comes with the advent of clinical subjects. The earliest a medical student is likely to encounter the subject of propedeutics. This is usually the dreaded and exciting first time a student enters the department. A white coat and slippers are a must here. But also a typical medical instrument - the stethoscope - becomes a necessity. Sthetoscope will accompany you throughout your further studies and most probably even afterwards through your employment, so you should not underestimate its selection. With a clear conscience we can recommend MDF Instruments stethoscopes, which we have tested together with thousands of doctors and medics and we can't let them down. MDF stethoscopes have great listening qualities and a lifetime warranty, plus you can choose from a wide range of designs. Because we know that choosing a stethoscope is no easy task, we've written some advice on how to choose the right one. A stethoscope is an investment, sometimes for life, so it's worth getting a protective case.

When you arrive on the ward, it is also a good idea to add white trousers to your gown, or to exchange your gown for a medical shirt. You'll find plenty of clothes here, whether you'e into classic cuts or have a distinctive style full of colour and pattern.

Surgery will be waiting for you in the upcoming senior year, and there's nothing worse than being snapped with a "sew it up, mate" request. That's why it's a good idea to be prepared and practice your stitches in advance, so that when it comes to it, you don't have to shake hands in front of the patient. The INFINITE sewing training kit will be a great partner for you. Unlike the other kits, we have added an autofix needle, which is used a lot during suturing, and the kit includes tweezers, scissors, plenty of sutures, a scalpel and of course artificial skin. If you don't want to invest in a whole sewing kit, you can practice with a separately purchased needle, sutures and artificial leather.

Perhaps the most famous tool in the field, the neurological hammer, goes hand in hand with neurology, so you might want to have your own. Some faculties have hammers available for loan, others do not, so having your own cool hammer is an advantage and you will be perfectly prepared.

And finally, the most enjoyable part! Studying medicine doesn't have to be all about obligations, you can also make yourself happy by doing things with a medical theme. We offer colourful, stylish socks, t-shirts for histology fans with specimens - brain, heart, lungs, testicles, as well as t-shirts for anatomy lovers. Our favourite pieces are ECG t-shirts, which we offer with themes of ventricular fibrillation, AV block, atrial fibrillation, etc. The choice does not end there, ladies can choose jewellery, gentlemen can choose a stylish quality leather belt. Reward yourself for the exam with practical and playful  Cognitive Surplus accessories, namely diaries, notebooks, pencil cases, which will make learning a breeze.

No student should forget to get some quality rest too, whether that's sleep or an activity, that's up to you. But if you want to keep your brain busy, we recommend puzzle! A proper mug will serve you well to keep up a good drinking regime, and nothing will motivate you to study more than one with a medical theme.

We wish you lots of strength and determination for the coming school year,

INFINITE MedStyle team.
